Stena Line Boats Information

High-speed ferries

Stena launched the world’s first high-speed ferry in 1996. Stena Explorer, was the first in a series of so-called HSS (High Speed Sea Service) 1500 ferries that Stena Line Shipping Company had developed.

The Stena Line Shipping Company patented the unique shape and several design solutions inherent in Stena Line HSS Ferries. The HSS Ferry comes in two sizes, there is the larger HSS 1500 that caters for both freight and passengers, whilst the HSS 900 caters only for passengers, cars and coaches. Both of the ferries have similar onboard facilities, including restaurants, shops and play areas for children.

Multi-purpose ferries

Stena Lines combination ferries cater for passengers as well as freight, cars, and coaches. The ferries operate by both day and night, and they offer a wide range of onboard facilities, including, cinema, restaurants, amusements, bars, shops and playrooms. The Night ferries also have cabins and there are some that even have nightclubs.

RoPax ferries

Stena Shipping Company offer the RoPax ferry line, that caters for both passengers and freight, with a greater emphasis on freight. These vessels have huge and easy loading decks for lorries, trailers and cars. There are special areas catering for lorry drivers providing a separate dining room, shower and cabins, in addition to the standard facilities on board Stena Line Ferries.

Freight vessels

Freight Vessels have the ability to cater for those goods prohibited from being shipped on passenger ferries. The Freight vessels generally have the capacity for lorries, trailers and supplied are a number of dedicated facilities for professional lorry drivers. Some areas, such as the kitchen and video room, are shared by crew and lorry drivers.
